Frank M. Fedeli Obituary

Frank M Fedeli, 81, Tyrone, PA died peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Herman B. and Ann (Martin) Fedeli, October 1, 1940.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Amato) Fedeli of 57 years; two sons: Shane (Kelly) Fedeli, of Hershey and Marcus (Melanie) Fedeli, of Aldie, Va.; a daughter, Nicole Fedeli, of Pittsburgh; three granddaughters: Mariah F. Turiano, of Pittsburgh, Celena F. Turiano of North Royalton, Ohio, and Isabella Fedeli, of Aldie, Va.

Frank was of the Catholic faith and devoted to his family as husband, father, pappy, uncle, mentor, coach, and advocate.  An avid reader, writer, and humorist, he will be remembered for timely commentary in various publications and for his pursuit of happiness and virtuous living. His wisdom and insight proved additive across the ages only to be exceeded by his warm-heartedness and generosity.

Given his membership to various social clubs, he treasured fellowship, music, and dancing with his wife and a cherished group of dancing friends whom he shared a special bond. He embraced the challenges of maintaining his home and relished the beauty of the seasons through a variety of outdoor activities including coffee on the front porch, rides on the Red Baron and caring for critters on the Janesville. His favorite pastimes also included camping, journeying cross-country in the Bella Vita, and attending his granddaughters’ special events.

After graduating from Altoona Area High School in 1958, he attended Allegheny Technical Institute in Pittsburgh until graduating in 1960. He served in the U.S. National Guard and was honorably discharged as a corporal.

Frank was employed by Raytheon (formerly HRB Systems) in State College for 26 years where he served as a data management specialist. Many will remember him as a local offset printer, operating Publication Services, Inc. until his passing.  He was a communicator, often talking through town, greeting folks, servicing accounts, and supporting other local businesses. He was also connected to the people and to community through his role as a district outreach specialist for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for several years. He was a member of the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed serving as a youth basketball coach, volunteer, and board member at the former Tyrone YMCA.

Visitation will be held from 1p.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 20 at Santella Funeral Home followed by a 5pm funeral service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be at 11am at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, on Friday, January 21, 2022.
