Donald Lee Bess, age 81, of Wright City, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home in Wright City, Oklahoma. He was born on Wednesday, October 2, 1940, to Jasper Wesley and Lola Mae Willis Bess in Wright City, Oklahoma.

Don was a man that loved his family and cherished his time with them. He loved to watch Western movies, playing with his dogs, going fishing, going on walks with his wife, Rosie, getting lost on some backroads and talking to his friend Charles Cupid about fishing. Don worked over 20 years at McBrayer Small Engine Repair in Idabel, Oklahoma until his retirement. Don was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel. Don was a loving, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosie Bess; one son, Timothy Bess; brothers, Earl Bess and Ray Bess and one sister, Wanda Bullard.

Don is survived by his sons and daughter in law, Terry Don Bess of Wright City, Oklahoma, Jimmy and Sarah Bess of Wright City, Oklahoma and Jeremy Bess of Wright City, Oklahoma; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie and Robert Hurst of Healdton, Oklahoma, Rhonda and Delvin Hoskins of Detroit, Texas, Sheila and Bubba Roberts of Wright City, Christy Bess and husband, Arnold Noah of Battiest, Oklahoma and Deborah and Stevie Bohanan of Bethel Oklahoma; his brother, Ronnie Bess of Big Cedar, Oklahoma; three sisters, Deloris Loman of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, June Osborn of Glover, Oklahoma and Mildred Beggs of McMinnville, Oregon; sisters in law, Fern Bess of North Bend, Oregon and Mickie Bess of Takoma, Washington; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Wright City First Baptist Church in Wright City, Oklahoma with Brother Ronnie Bess officiating. Interment will follow in the Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, Oklahoma under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Roberts, Brent Bohanan, Howie Standridge, Randell Rankins, Christopher Aguero and Ricky Rankins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Leewee Standridge, Junior Standridge, Steven Bess and Delvin Hoskins.
