Forest S. Kelly Obituary

Forest Stanley Kelly, 82, of Vermilion, Illinois, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022, at Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital. He was retired after many years as a self-employed auto mechanic and contractor. He was born September 16, 1939, in Elbridge Township, Illinois, the son of the late Jesse “Jake” and Mildred Pearl (Fuqua) Kelly. He married Betty Ann Branson on June 10, 1961, in Tijuana, Mexico, and she survives. Other survivors include four children, Angel Lumpp of Vermilion, Virginia Tingley of Paris, Illinois, Carl Jo (Lori) Kelly of Vermilion, and Jessica (Boe) Siverly of Paris; four brothers, Herman Kelly and James Kelly both of Paris, Jack Kelly of Yale, Illinois, and Wayne Kelly of Dennison, Illinois; a sister, Dottie Comstock of Paris; eight grandchildren, Michael Lumpp of New Goshen, Indiana, Melissa Overbee of Madison, Wisconsin, Christy Tingley of Paris, Jake Kelly of Vermilion, Levi Kelly (Stephanie Cassidy) of Paris, Marissa Creech-Siverly of Paris, Wyatt Siverly of Paris, Blade Siverly of Paris, and Chandlar Creech of Bloomington, Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and an “honorary daughter,” Brenda McQueen and family of Marshall, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kim Lumpp; four brothers, Carl, Jock, Francis, and Lester Kelly; four sisters, Garnet Floyd, Mary Floyd, Nora Lance, and Lorena Simmons; and an infant grandson, Remey Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Nevins Christian Church of Paris. Forest enjoyed working in his yard, although he enjoyed it somewhat sporadically. He loved traveling, going to restaurants, riding his Gold Wing motorcycles, and visiting every morning with his coffee group at the On the Tracks Café. Forest will be remembered as a friendly, outgoing, talented, and occasionally ornery person who loved to tease and delighted in startling his children and grandchildren. Above all else, he was very proud of his family and was happiest when spending time with them. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Nevins Christian Church. SERVICE INFORMATION Services celebrating his life were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. The Reverend Kevin Levellie officiated and special music was provided by Jeanette and Kevin Levellie. Burial follow in Vermilion Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post #211 and the U.S. Army Reserves. Casket bearers were Dick and Randy Branson, Andy Comstock, Jake and Levi Kelly, and Michael Lumpp. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
