Donald Downam, Jr.

Donald Leroy Downam, Jr., 62, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Marion Health. Don was born on April 18, 1959, to the late Donald and Ellen Downam. He graduated from Eastbrook High School and then worked as a hod carrier for the local LiUNA 1112 in Muncie. On March 2, 1985, he married Karen Whelchel. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2016. Don enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, and riding his Harley, as well as singing in church. He also played a great Santa every year, up until he became ill this past December.
Don is survived by his children, Dorian Campbell, Marion, Anna Delks, Jonesboro, and Damian Jones, Marion; grandchildren, Deborah and Timothy Campbell, Dallas and Dawnali Delks, and Demetrius Jones; brothers, James (Karen) Downam, Norristown, PA, and John Downam, Marion; and sister, Rita Barvais, Madison Heights, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ellen, and his wife, Karen.
Arrangements for Don have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at Southside Wesleyan Church, 312 East South E Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Johnny Armes officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
