Margaret "Ruth" Dalby

<p>Margaret &ldquo;Ruth&rdquo; (Brown) Dalby, 82, of Altoona, passed away Friday Jan. 14, 2022, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late James R. Sr. and Edna J. (Glass) Brown. On May 1, 1971, she married John E. Dalby and he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2015.</p> <p>She is survived by her children: Robert E. Grassmyer, of Altoona, Sherri (Steve) Babiss, of Tuckerton NJ., Anthony M. (Tracie) DeStefano, of Altoona, and Catherine (Bruce) Cogan, of Altoona; grandchildren: Dawn Rife, Robyn Remes, Danielle Repose, Anthony M. DeStefano Jr., Tara Kane, John C. McDowell, William Dippolito III, Jewelen DeStefano, Amber DeStefano, Ashley DeStefano, Diamond DeStefano, Ariana Grassmyer, Alita Grassmyer and Hunter Cogan; 17 great-grandchildren, including Nolan Maddox McDowell due May 12, 2022.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: James R. Jr., John R. and Donald E.; a sister, Barbara Clark; a son, David M. DeStefano; a grandson, Ryan McDowell; and her husband, John E. Dalby.</p> <p>Ruth was employed as the manager at the Winner&rsquo;s Lounge in Holiday Bowl for over 20 years before retiring in 2015. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, and cooking.</p> <p>Friends will be received from 4pm to 6pm Friday, January 21, 2022 in the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534-4th St. Altoona, with a memorial service held immediately following the visitation.
