Obituary
Martin ‘Marty’ Middelstadt, 64 of Fairbanks passed suddenly on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Born in Oregon, Marty’s love for the outdoors grew exploring the cascades, working farmland and driving trucks. Living as an outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and trapping he loved crisp fall mornings and the changing leaves.
Marty and Pam met as a set up by Pam's cousin. In 1983, they married and started their life together as an adventure moving to Alaska, fulfilling Marty’s childhood dream of hunting, trapping and fishing in the rugged Alaskan wilderness.
After several years of working for Fairbanks Paint & Glass, in 1988, Marty, Stan and Ken Hughes purchased the business becoming partners.
Marty was known in the Fairbanks community for his quality work in taxidermy and furs, his mixology skills in coloring matching paint and for his quick wit that could make anyone laugh.
With all that he accomplished in life, he was most proud in the titles of husband, father and most recently, grandpa. Marty is survived by his wife Pam; son Nick and his wife Kimberley; daughter Tori and her husband Brian; granddaughter Claire; parents Carl & Marian; brothers John and Brian and sister Carol. He was preceded in death by his sister Glenda.
Celebration of Life service will be at Birch Hill Recreation Area (101 Wilderness Dr.) on March 5, 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00pm. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join and share stories and condolences with the family.
