Jesse Carreon Obituary

Jesse Carreon age 92, of Winchester passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cotulla, Texas on December 24, 1929 to the late Cenobio and San Dos (Bennavidez) Carreon. He grew up in South Holland, IL, where he attended school and helped on the family farm. From 1951-1953 he served his county in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. When he was honorably discharged, he was employed by General Transformer in Homewood, IL. There he met the love of his life, Ellen Ashley and they married on August 21, 1954 and they remained happily married for 51 years. After Jesse married, he was employed by Bliss and Laughlin Steel Manufacturing in Harvey, IL as a Machinist. He worked there for 40 years and retired in 1993. Jesse earned his pilots’ licenses in 1993 and enjoyed flying. He was a faithful volunteer at the Winchester Municipal Airport where he had many friends. Jesse was a member of the Winchester First Baptist where he was a greeter. He was a master leather crafter. He loved working in his yard and tending to his flowers and plants. He wanted to be remembered as a hard worker and humble man that loved his family. He will also be remembered for his sweet nature and joyful smile. Jesse was truly the kindest, gentlest person you would ever meet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ellen; brother, JR. Carreon; and sister, Lucia Williams. Jesse leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children, Diane (Bob) Costenaro of Winchester, Bert (Mara) Carreon of Port Charlotte, FL, Scott (Joan) Carreon of New Lenox, IL and Lisa Carreon of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Jake Costenaro, Adam (Meghan) Carreon, Eric (Nichole) Carreon, Matthew (Erin) Carreon, Megan Carreon, Kimberly Prevss and Jack Prevss; great grandchildren, Eleri Costenaro and Grayson Carreon; siblings, Mike Carreon, Mario Carreon and Theresa Guerrero; special caretaker, Jill Roberts; and special friends, Jerry and Robin Paukstis. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 12:00pm until 3:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner.
