Sonny Mason, age 93 of Winchester, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Chattanooga on April 6, 1928 to the late John Dewey and Lila Louise (Travis) Mason Sr. Sonny was a veteran of the United States Navy. Before his retirement, Sonny had been employed as an electrician at AEDC. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching football and cheering for the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Tennessee Titans. Sonny was very outgoing and active, as well as independent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mason. Sonny is survived by his loving children, Sunny (Ronnie) Simmons of Winchester, and Jolly Anderson of Winchester; grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Lacey Cooley, Brian (Lindsey) Simmons, and Brent (Beth) Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Ben Simmons, Brad Simmons, Parker Simmons, Emeri Simmons, Mason Cooley, and Brady Cooley. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4-7pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
