Sandra J. Lear, 78, of Altoona, died Friday at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Mildred (Ramsey) Newton. She married Martin Lear on Aug. 17, 1974.

Along with her husband Martin, she is survived by two sons, Jon Grassmyer (Jackie) and Martin Lear Jr. (Maribeth); a brother, William Newton; four grandchildren: Brandon Grassmyer, Megan Grassmyer, Isabella Lear and Fiona Lear; as well as two great-grandchildren: Joshua and Hailey.

She graduated from Altoona High School in 1961. Sandra retired after 33 years from the Blair County Assistance Office.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park.
