Walter W. "Walt" Lee, Jr.

Walter W. “Walt” Lee, Jr. of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Tuesday, December 31, 1940 in Huzzah, Missouri to the union of Walter W. “Ted” and Jesse Laura (Stallings) Lee, Sr. He left from this life on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 81. Walt was united in marriage to Joyce A. Miller on December 17, 1960 in Steelville, Missouri. To this union five daughters were born Tanya, Sandra, LaDonna, Kristi and Norma. Walt accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a young age. He started logging as a kid with father and would later work a few other places, C & C Auto Supply and as a heavy equipment operator in construction in St. Louis. He owned and operated Walt Lee Excavating Company for several years, helping dig many homes at Indian Hills and the surrounding area. He also worked for and retired from Crawford County Road District #1. Walt enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing, gigging, woodworking, welding and rebuilding horse drawn wagons. Walt is preceded in death by his parents Walter W. “Ted” Lee, Sr. and Jesse Laura (Stallings) Lee; one brother Dennis Lee; two sisters June and husband Melvin Garrison, Betty and husband Lindell Staples; four brothers-in-law Don Yoakum, Alan Bruton, Donald “Butch” Miller, Georgie “Chris” Schmitt; one sister-in-law Janet Edgar; one grandson Curtis Callahan, Jr.; three great-grandchildren Logan Esten Callahan, Rosealeigh Mae Callahan, Haylie Nicole Monks. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty-one years Joyce A. (Miller) Lee of the home; five daughters Tanya and husband Randy Dean of Villa Ridge, Sandra Monks of Cuba, LaDonna Driver of Cuba, Kristi and husband Elmer Gregory, Jr. of St. James, Norma Lee of Leasburg; two sisters Norma Yoakum of Washington, Marian Bruton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother Jim and wife Joyce Lee of Cuba; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Beers and Pastor Alan Miles, officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Lee family.
