Carol Lorraine Smith Obituary

Passed peacefully away in the arms of loved ones on Jan. 12th, 2022.  Beloved Mother to Wanda Smith (Roger Roberts), Kelly McCarthy (Clarence Ford) and Stephen Smith (Julie Abbott), dearest Grandmother to Patricia Smith (Gerard Dwyer), Charlene McCarthy, Kaylee Making, Taylor Abbott, Cole Smith, Cruz Smith, Scott Roberts and Kristen Stevenson (Andrew), Joshua Rodgers, Robyn Hearn and Brandon Ford-Lewis and Great Grandchildren Isabella Rodgers, Marley English and Braxton Stevenson.

Will be dearly missed by sisters June Holden (Mt. Pearl), Alma Lowe (St. John's) and Peggy Parsons (Torbay). Predeceased by Husband Melvin Smith and Parents Augustus and Evelyn Whitten (Gollop) Bellevue Beach, Son in-law Duane McCarthy In-laws Jacob and Nina Smith (Warren), Sister in- law Marguerite Sutherland (Larry), Brothers in-laws Donald Smith, Everett Smith (Betty), James Holden, Graham Lowe and Robert Parsons.

Cherished Auntie to much loved nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces who were blessed to have shared her in their life’s journey. Carol will be sadly missed by close friends who were family at heart Wade French and Ann Reid (Mt. Pearl), Kevin and Sheila Fahey (Bellevue Beach), Dulcie Ivany (Chance Cove), devoted and loving caregivers Sadie Peyton (Kelligrews), Aleisha Saranaweera (St. John’s) and Jasmine Day (Paradise), Cecil Anderson (Bishop's Falls), Winnie Smith (Sylvan Lake), Joe and Rose Shambri (Montreal), Dave and Mavis Butler (Thornlea), Blen and Ray Allen (Bellevue Beach) Paulette Fitzgerald (Spaniard’s Bay) as well as many other deeply appreciated acquaintances within the Anglican Church congregation and Anglican Women’s Association of both Chance Cove and Paradise who were touched by Carol’s warmth, and generous friendship. Carol enjoyed the fellowship of the Anglican Church and was a Eucharistic Minister assisting with Holy Communion which she devoutly enjoyed.

Much gratitude is extended to cousin Linda Gollop, the exceptional staff and medical associates of Jennifer Codner Public Health CBS, Dr. Rorke of The Murphy Bliss Cancer Clinic, Surgical Oncologist Dr. Michael Hogan of The Health Sciences Centre, and Internal Medicine St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital.

Kind and deep appreciation to Reverend Byron Barter and team at Holy Innocents Anglican Parish, Paradise who supported Carol and family through such difficult times over the past months. Carol will forever be deeply missed and fondly loved by those who knew her well. Cremation has taken place and a service will be scheduled this summer 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions at the Church of The Ascension, Chance Cove.
