Joseph Ray Goodwin

<p>Joseph Ray Goodwin of West Jordan, UT passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT with his wife and stepchildren by his side. He was born in Preston, ID on December 10, 1943, to James Clifford Goodwin and Florence Dora Williams. Joe married Sandra Deatline on December 23, 1965. Later divorced. Together, they had 2 sons. Joe married his sweetheart Nancy Wilding on May 10, 2010.</p> <p>Joe joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and did 2 tours of duty. First stationed in Alaska and then Fort Knox, KY. After his military career, Joe moved to Indiana where he raised his family and worked for Amtrak Railroad as a Certified Pipe Fitter for 35 years. After his retirement, he moved back to his home state of Idaho.&nbsp;Joe was great at building things&nbsp;and loved working with his hands.&nbsp; He was an avid reader, as evidenced by his extensive book collection.&nbsp;He loved learning and sharing his knowledge and experience with others.&nbsp;</p> <p>Joe is survived by his wife Nancy Wilding; his 2 sons, Scott (Tracy) Goodwin, Chris (Andrea) Goodwin, his 3 stepchildren, Stacy (Daniel) Murphy, Sandra (Dan) Bence and Anthony (Yvonne) Wilding, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his siblings Mary (Doran) Desirey and Clifford (Loretta) Goodwin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11:00 am at Anderson &amp; Goff Mortuary at 11859 S 700 E in Draper, UT. A viewing will take place prior to the services from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.&nbsp;Interment will be at&nbsp;the Utah Veterans Cemetery &amp; Memorial Park, 17111 1700 W, Bluffdale, UT.</p> <p>Masks are encouraged.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
