David P. Ethier

David P. Ethier, 65, of Pascoag, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Denise C. (Deshaies) Ethier. Born in Woonsocket to parents Paul E. Ethier and Germaine (Courtemanche) Ethier on October 26, 1956, he was raised in Blackstone, MA. David served in the U.S. Army from 1974-1977, as a clerk in the 1st Cavalry Division. He met his wife Denise and they married in 1984. David earned a computer technology certification with Sylvania Tech. He was employed by the state of Rhode Island as a Computer Operator and retired in 2018 from the University of Rhode Island. David's Catholic Faith played an important part of his life. He made a Perpetual Vow as a Tertiary (lay member) with the religious order of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. He held a love for the Blessed Mother, bringing a pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima to different homes for private devotion. He leaves behind the legacy of The Rose Ferron Foundation of Rhode Island, which he helped establish in his retirement. The Foundation is dedicated to sharing knowledge of the life and Catholic spirituality of Woonsocket, through Rhode Island's own: Marie "Little Rose" Ferron. David will be remembered as a loving husband and father. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Paul X. Ethier (Amanda) of Glen Ellyn, IL and Stephen D. Ethier of Pascoag. He is also survived by his two sisters: Paulette Boyko (Michael) of Blackstone, MA and Diane Gravel (Edward) of Pascoag. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 12 PM until 3:30 PM at St. Theresa's Shrine, 35 Dion Drive, Nasonville. An additional brief visiting hour will also be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Good Help Church, 1063 Victory Hwy, Mapleville, RI 02839, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Rose Ferron Foundation of Rhode Island in David's memory to continue his legacy and mission.
