Lois Marie Birch Obituary

Passed away at the Fairview Personal Care Home, Brandon MB, on Thursday January 6, 2022, at the age of 93 years, Lois Marie Birch, of Treherne MB.

Lois leaves to mourn her passing sons Trent Birch (Rose) of Holland, Kevin Birch (Angeline) of Winnipeg, daughter Leigh Wood (Kevin) of Brandon; seven grandchildren, Craig, Christine (Ken), Lynne (Laurie), CiJae (Marcus), Michelle (Phil), Marc (Alicia), Taylor (Rory), eleven great grandchildren, sister Yvonne and husband Bob, as well as numerous extended relatives.

Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas Birch, March of 2020, parents Archibald & Marie Waggoner, sister-in-law Helen Waggoner, December of 2014, and brother Clinton Waggoner August of 2016.

Mom was born as the middle child and first daughter to Archibald & Marie Waggoner in Neepawa in 1928.   She had an older brother Clinton born 5 years before her and 10 years later, her parents welcomed another daughter, Yvonne.  She worked in the bank in Neepawa and as a teacher for a short term as well before marrying Douglas Birch on November 18th, 1952.  In September of 1954 they welcomed their first son, a boy, Douglas Trent.  Two years later in October, another son, Kevin Dale and in September of 1960, their last child and only daughter Cheryl Leigh.  Dad's career took them from Neepawa, to St Rose du Lac, to Rosebank and finally to Treherne.  Mom went to back to work when Leigh entered school, first at Treherne Pharmacy and then to Metcalfe's Garage where she worked until retirement.  Mom was the supportive wife and Mother...always there for Dad's activities and as a support to her children where needed.  Mom and Dad spent just under 68 years together before Dad's health forced a move to Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon.  Dad passed away in March of 2020 and later on that year, Mom came to live with Leigh and her partner Kevin in Brandon.   Kevin & Leigh enjoyed 10 wonderful months of having Mom close by but deteriorating health meant a move to Fairview in the summer of 2021.  Family was everything to Mom...her main focus, worry and joy.      We ALWAYS came first.    She will be missed immensely.    RIP Mom.    We Love You!

A Come & Go Tea will be held at a later date in July.  Cremation has taken place.  A private family interment will take place at a later date in July in the Woodlands Cemetery.
