RYE - Dorothy A. Lyczak, born in Portsmouth NH on June 2, 1923, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022 in Rye NH at the age of 98. The daughter of Arthur A. Weeks and Marion (Wallace) Weeks of Portsmouth, Dorothy grew up on Jones Avenue in Portsmouth together with her sister and five brothers. After graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1940, she worked as a telephone operator until she met her husband Alfred Lyczak in December 1941. Together they built a home on Wallis Road in Rye NH where she raised three children and delighted in the company of family and friends. She loved outdoor adventures: walks on the beach, bike rides, and boat trips to the Isles of Shoals. At home she tended her flower garden and her beloved pet cats. She is survived by her son John Lyczak of York Maine, daughter Deborah Curran, grandchildren MIchael Lycak, Nathan Lyczak, Andrew Lyczak, and Amanda Coimbra, Joshua Curran, Matthew Curran and eleven great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members include her brother Donald Weeks of Portsmouth, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held privately. For online condolences, visit: www.jvwoodfuneralhome.com.
