Paul R. Weber Obituary

Paul R. Weber, 81, son of Anthony and Anna (Rohling) Weber, was born in Wellington, KS on July 30, 1940. He died peacefully at home December 27, 2021, due to viral pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his wife Neila (Scott) Weber and son, Scott Weber. He then found happiness again and married Marylyn (Grubb) Weber. His surviving family are: daughters; Dr. Lisa Weber and Susan Weber; step-son; Jay Haen; two grandchildren; Shannon Stockton and Abby (Joe) Stockton-Cooper and one great-grandchild; Cash Cooper. He is also survived by brothers, sisters, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Paul raised his family while farming and ranching in his boyhood home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, BS’ing, and spending time with family and friends. He never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. He was known for many things; free advice (sometimes good), stubbornness, and his well-intended teasing (not always well-received)! He was truly one of a kind! He was in the Army from 1962-1966 and was stationed in Korea. After returning home, he farmed for a decade before also becoming one of four business partners to open the meat packing plant in Wellington, KS in 1977. He continued to farm and raise cattle until his much-deserved retirement at age 65. After his farming retirement and “moving into town”, he volunteered for seven years delivering Friendship Meals, a program assisting the elderly with home delivery of hot meals. He often joked about not living past age 78 because of his life-long battle with heart disease. In 2018, Paul and Marylyn, and their beloved dog Daisy, moved to Derby to be closer to both of their families. In the last few days of his life, Paul enjoyed spending his time with his closest family, even saying “times like these sure do bring family together”. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wellington Senior Center where he loved “beating everyone shooting pool”. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Wellington, Kansas. Family requests masks be worn during the service. Following the service, there will be a lunch at the Knights of Columbus Hall. There will be no interment at the cemetery.
