Together they moved to Prince George in 1959. In 1964 they moved to Hudson Bay, SK where Vera helped Mike with two family businesses, K&L Garage and Mike’s Car Wash. Vera also drove school bus part time while raising three daughters. She was also a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Women’s church group for over 50 years and volunteered many hours supporting their events.

Baba, as everyone called her, took pleasure in gardening, camping, fishing, bonfires, playing cards and games, and going for drives to see the changing landscape. She was always cooking, baking and spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren. Baba loved to go for coffee with her friends in the morning and make perogies and cabbage rolls for sale in the afternoon. She was spontaneous and loved a good adventure so she had colourful stories to tell.

Vera was predeceased by her husband Mike, and her parents, Sam and Mary Waskowic. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Linda (David) Malinowski; Jo-Ann (Barry) Olson; and Teresa (Darcy) Parkman and her six grandchildren: Brady and Cody Malinowski, Logan and Morgan Olson, and Austin and Jordyn Parkman; and one brother John Waskowic, as well as three nephews, several relatives and her many friends.
