Roger D. Skinner Obituary

 Roger D. Skinner, 81, of Ogallala, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Azria Health in Sutherland, NE.  
He was born on October 28, 1940 in North Platte, Nebraska to Theodore and Evelyn (Miller) Skinner.  Roger attended Ogallala Public Schools and graduated from Ogallala High School with the Class of 1959. He was confirmed into the Congregational Church of Ogallala.

Roger joined the National Guard in May 1959 and served until April 1966.

Roger married Janet Marie Gray on April 9, 1966 at the Congregational Church in Ogallala. To this union two sons were born; Mark D. Skinner and Richard A. Skinner. Roger worked with his father Theo at painting. He later went to work for NPPD and retired from Gerald Gentleman Station at Sutherland on December 26, 2002 after 25 years of service.

Roger loved vehicles. He owned over 30 during his lifetime. He enjoyed his bowling league on Friday nights. He enjoyed fishing with his sons and after retirement he enjoyed going gambling with his brother-in-law John (Brenda) Gray.

Survivors include his wife Janet of 55 years, sons; Mark (Jane) Skinner, Richard Skinner both of Ogallala; brother Charles (Mary) Skinner of Ogallala and grandsons; Nicholas, Matthew, Michael and Aaron Skinner of Ogallala, granddaughter; Stephanie Skinner of Cheyenne WY. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore "Theo" and Evelyn Skinner, brothers, Ed Skinner, Mark A Skinner and sisters Donna (Evans) Ribble, Helen and Frances.
 
Visitation will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel, in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, 10:00 am at the United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Ogallala , with the  Rev. Lisa Hadler officiating.
Interment  will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Military Graveside Honors will be by the Keith County Veterans Honor Guard
Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Christ First Congregational .
