JOY ELAINE SANDERS Obituary

Joy Elaine (Lund) Sanders of Fortine, MT passed away January 2, 2022.  A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she will be missed by many.

Joy was born June 17, 1943 in Minnesota, and raised in Mayger, Oregon.  She attended high school in Troy, Montana, married and had three children - Kenneth, Michael and April.  She moved back to Oregon when the children were young, where she settled in Corvallis and met her husband of almost 50 years, Donald Sanders.

Joy and Don travelled and moved across the US several times, living in Texas and Oklahoma.  They settled in North Carolina where they ran a carpeting business together, SandCo.  Joy started her working life as a dietician before apprenticing to her husband in the carpeting business.  While in North Carolina, she went to work for Jefferson Floral, where she created artificial floral arrangements until her retirement in 2007. Upon retirement, she and Don moved back to Montana, living the remainder of her life with Don in Fortine, where she enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting friends, and planning her annual 4th of July celebration - her favorite family holiday.

Joy is survived by her husband Don, her children (Ken, Mike & April); her brother Jerry; sister & best friend Kathy; seven grandchildren (Jamie, Joy, Jerry, Kendra, MJ, Nickalaus, and DeeDee), and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Ron.

Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
