Joseph J McGowan, 69, of Port Monmouth, NJ, died on January 3, 2022 in Holmdel, NJ. He was born in Red Bank, NJ in 1952 to John and Marie McGowan.

Joseph worked as a Laborer and spent most of his career working on bridges throughout NJ.

Surviving is his mother, Marie McGowan; three sisters, Marie  McGowan, Margaret Burke, and Elizabeth Corbet; two brothers, James and Michael McGowan; daughter, Meghan McGowan; step-children, Terry and Stevie Horniacek; eleven grandchildren, Jason Wombough, Kristen  Lord, Donnie Pfirman, Kathleen Wombough, Joseph Ramos, Jourdyn Marcus, Anthony Horniacek, Jenna Horniacek, Nikolas Horniacek, Tyler Horniacek, and Josh Horniacek; and three great-grandchildren.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen McGowan; brother, John Patrick McGowan; and father, John J McGowan.

Joe's passion was his family. He loved football, golf and his Monmouth race track. He had a smile that matched his heart of gold

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

A Funeral Liturgy will be offered during visitation at 4:00 pm.

Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
