Susan Hill Barrick Obituary

Susan Hill Barrick, 68, daughter of Wayne and Joy (Edmondson) Hill, entered the joy of the Lord on January 1, 2022. Growing up, Susan was a baton twirler and enjoyed musical pursuits including playing piano, saxophone, and performing in show choir. She enjoyed time with family and friends her whole life. After graduating from Pocahontas High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree of social work from the University of Iowa and began 14 years of work at Woodward State Hospital School. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2021 at Lutheran Church of Hope in Grimes. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) disaster relief. Susan married Robert Barrick and soon chose to stay home and raise their four children. She also enjoyed being a cashier trainer for Target. Besides the love she showered on her family and pets, she loved Lake Okoboji, playing cards, reading the paper cover-to-cover and crossword puzzles. She had a delightful sense of humor. A life-long Methodist, Susan served as a Sunday school teacher and adult bible study and prayer group leader. She was gifted at doing the drama lessons for Vacation Bible School. She truly cared for people and had a heart for those in need. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Col. C Thomas Hill. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, and their children, Emily Barrick, Lisa Barrick, Matthew Barrick, and Alexa (Tyler) Puls.
