She was the daughter of Rose and the late Patrick McIntyre.

Vanessa was a beautiful person inside and out.

She cared deeply for her family, especially her husband and kids. She was remarkably thoughtful and kind, had a mind that was sharp as a tack, and carried herself with self-respect, dignity and class. She was so well-known by her cheerful demeanor; that those closest to her called her "Happy-Ness". Her dedication to her children was undeniable and she always wanted the best for them; and for them to know the value of hard work, love, and commitment.

Vanessa, Néal, and the kids enjoyed summers together in Prince Edward Island; living on island time filling life with board games, cards, books, long walks on the beach, and most of all; building wonderful memories of love and laughter with one another. Vanessa often commented that she had heaven on earth.

Vanessa was a devout Catholic, and a faithful servant to many Christian communities. For many years she served as the office manager for Wolfville Baptist & Port Williams United Baptist Church.
