Lawrence Kimball Knoke Obituary

Lawrence Kimball Knoke passed away peacefully at his home in Lakeview Oregon on December 13, 2021.

Lawrence was born in Paisley Oregon on February 11, 1931, to Date Kimball and Florence Elizabeth (McKune) Knoke.  Lawrence was raised in Paisley and attended Paisley High School.

Lawrence met and married Avis Irene Barnum and they were married in Redmond, Oregon in 1950. They moved to Lakeview in 1951, where they lived and raised their family.  Enjoying 71 wonderful years of marriage.

Lawrence went to work on a ranch in Paisley when he was only 12 years old.  He never stopped working; you might say he was a work-aholic.   After the ranch work, he was a chocker setter, then a heavy equipment operator.  He worked for West Side Water Users, Delmer Leply service station as a mechanic, Jackson’s Cement Co., and Collins Pine as a heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement.

The great event in his life was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He regretted not doing it sooner for his family.  He was the adult Sunday school teacher for 30 years at the Open Bible Church.  He had to give it up due to dementia was taking over.  One of his many treasured memories was going camping and hunting with his sons Larry and Kim.  There weren’t many occasions but each one was memorable.

Preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers; Bill, Jim, and Orval, sister; Harriet. Lawrence was firstborn and the last to pass away.  Also, his son Larry in Nov of 2021.

Survived by his wife Avis, daughter; Kathy Knoke, of CA, son, and daughter-in-law Kim (Joy) Knoke of OR., 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He will be missed greatly by his family and friends, but the family takes great comfort in knowing he is at peace in the arms of Jesus.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 2 pm at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, OR. A private family committal was held at the West Side Cemetery on December 21, 2021.

Donations and contributions can be made to Lake County Food Share PO Box 1330, Lakeview OR 97630, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
