Ruth I. Byers, 82, of Hustontown, PA, died Friday, December 24, 2021 at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

Born March 24, 1939 in Taylor Twp., Fulton Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Franklin and Minnie Viola (Cruthers) Chilcoate. She was united in marriage to Paul E. Byers on June 6, 1959. Mr. Byers preceded in death on August 4, 2009 after 50 years of marriage.

Mrs. Byers was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Luther, Donald, Fred, Chester, William and Ralph Chilcoate and six sisters, Bertha Bookheimer, Hazel Chilcoate, Martha Golden, Doris Gerber, Clare Shore and Lois Mellott.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Byers was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg, PA.

During her life she had been employed at various restaurants and sewing factories. She retired from the Sideling Hill Plaza of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time with her special friend, Tom Henry.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
