Diana Mae Mudge Obituary

Funeral service for Diana Mudge will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at Gillette Memorial Chapel; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Diana Mudge, age 61 passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Close to Home Hospice of kidney failure. Diana was born March 22, 1956 in Elgin, ND to Dwayne and Doris Hillius. She grew up in Lead, SD and moved to Gillette, WY in 1972. She then met the love of her life, Richard Mudge, and the two were married in June of 1973. Their family started soon thereafter with the birth of the first of three children, Michael Mudge in 1975, followed by Christopher Mudge in 1978, and Miranda Mudge in 1984. In 2001 she fell in love with “baby of her heart,“ a little girl named Sarah Vangundy, and helped raise her. It was October of 1984 tragedy struck and her husband Richard passed away. From there she devoted her life to raising her three children. She had various jobs over the years, but first and foremost was being a mother, not only to her children, but also to her children’s friends and her grandchildren. There wasn’t a child out there she wouldn’t give her love and support to. She was the epitome of a mama bear she would risk everything protecting her children, whether standing down a man three times her size, or picking up a child in need in the middle of the night. Diana is survived by her father Dwayne Hillius of Sundance, her two sons; Mike (Amanda) Mudge, and Chris (Lela) Mudge, her two daughters; Miranda (Robert) Hicks, and Sarah Vangundy, two brothers; Donald and Dennis Hillius, six grandchildren; Adelyn, Annastasia, Dalton, Trishalana, Lilliana, and William. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Mudge, her mother Doris Hillius, and two brothers; Darrell and Douglas Hillius. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
