PORTSMOUTH – Leroy Templeton Coleman, 96, of the 4700 block of Clintwood Dr. passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 in his home. He was born on December 14, 1925 to the late William T. and Martha S. Coleman; and was a proud retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Leroy also retired as a mechanic for Southern Amusements; and was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church and Portsmouth Moose Lodge #898. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Esther P. Coleman; and his two brothers, William B. Coleman, Jr. and Charles T. Coleman. He survived by his two daughters, Martha A. Smith and Joellen Whispel and husband Kenneth; a son Herbert E. Coleman and his wife Vickie; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
