Frances C. Gunderman, 93, of Newton died on Thursday, December 11, 2015, at her home at Bristol Glen where she had resided for the past 15 years. Born in Hawthorne, Fran attended Passaic High School. In 1946 Frances and John Gunderman were married and resided in Midland Park. She was a cashier for Ridgewood Hardware Store for a few years in her early days. Fran was a parishioner of the Midland Park United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member until 2001. While living at Bristol Glen, Fran was a choir member and active in several organizations. Fran survived her husband, John; brother, Abe Reitsma; and two twin sisters, Maria and Mathilda Hymen. Beloved by all, Fran is survived by her brother-in-law, Elmer Hymen; niece Janet Paul; nephews, William Hymen and wife, Renee, Martin Hymen, Jr. and Christian Hymen. She is also survived by three great-nieces, Sharon-Leigh Ricker and husband, Shane, Keri McGee and husband, Brian, Lisa Edwards and husband, Danny, as well as six great-great-nephews and nieces, Nathaniel Thomas, Danny Jr., Nathan William, Emily, Alexis and Kaitlyn. A memorial service will be observed at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015, in the Chapel at Bristol Glen, 200 Bristol Glen Drive, Newton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
