Hazel Mancini, 82, of Green Township, died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at home. Born and raised in Clifton, Hazel was a graduate of Clifton High School. She worked in Sales for Macy's in Wayne for 20 years before her retirement. A member of Newton Covenant Reformed Church, Hazel enjoyed crocheting, travel and family gatherings. The daughter of the late Henry and Cornelia (nee Swaggers) Nydam, Hazel is survived by her husband, Joseph L.; three sons, William Russell, Jr., of Nevada, Clifford Russell of New Hampshire, Curtis Russell of New Jersey; one daughter, Lauren Russell Nelson of New Jersey; one sister, Jeanette Bush of North Carolina; two brothers, Henry Nydam and Kenneth Nydam, both of New Jersey; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
