Eddie Joe Norton
Eddie Joe Norton, 80, resident of Russell, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at his home in Russell, Oklahoma. <br />Eddie was born on December 14, 1941, in Mangum, OK, to his parents Cecil and Felicia Shults Norton. He was a member of Centralvue's high school graduating class of 1958. Eddie was passionate about education and wanted to share his knowledge with others. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1962.<br /> Eddie landed his first teaching job in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He taught high school math there and in several other places including Elbert, CO; Gotebo, OK; and Hobart, OK. After years of shaping young minds in the classroom, Eddie decided to step away from educating and jumped into farming. He farm work around the Reed and Mangum areas.<br />Eddie was a member of the Church of Christ in Mangum and was also involved in the Masonic lodge. He and his sisters loved traveling together. They visited Niagara Falls, Alaska, the Cayman Islands, Mt. Rushmore, Bryce Canyon, Utah, and Ruidoso, New Mexico to name a few. Eddie had many hobbies, pastimes and interests. He adored hunting and fishing and thoroughly enjoyed camping whether it was by himself or with family and friends.<br />Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Felicia Norton; and his sister, Marjorie Lovelace.<br />He is survived by two sons: Jeffery Lynn Norton and Delbert Wayne Norton; two sisters: Norma Jean Montague and Shirley Ruth Baird; his grandchildren: Justin Norton, Jerry Norton, Tyler Norton, Joshua Norton, Great - Grandchildren, David Norton, Lora Norton, Jayden Norton, Sean Norton; Nieces and Nephews, Timothy Baird, Torie Morris, Joe Chambless, Jalen Waltman, Cory Lovelace, Chad Lovelace, Kyle Lovelace and other extended family. <br />Private family services have been held. <br />Services were entrusted to Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.<br />Obituary
