Charles "Terry" Munson

<p>Charles Terry Munson, age 82, passed away peacefully Friday December 17, 2021 at his Pawleys Island residence.</p> <p>Born in Hagerstown, MD, Terry was the son of the late Donald Francis Munson and Mevis Rider Munson.&nbsp; After graduating from Duke University, Terry enlisted in the Army with the goal of becoming a Chinese Linguist.&nbsp;&nbsp;Graduating at the top of his class at the Army Language School in Monterey, Ca. he was awarded the Maxwell D. Taylor award for excellence. A proud&nbsp;veteran, Terry served in the United States Army for 3 years.&nbsp; After his military service Terry kept sharpening his skills as a Chinese linguist and eventually found opportunities with IBM to incorporate those talents in his profession as a Systems Engineer.&nbsp;&nbsp;Terry was an avid and talented trumpet player, and bridge player.&nbsp;&nbsp;In his retirement years he spent most of his time reading, researching local and national issues, debating with any and all who would join In, and was a co-founder of SODA - the movement to stop off-shore drilling off our beautiful coast.&nbsp;&nbsp;His main hobby in retirement was penning letters to the editor on myriad topics of which several hundred have been published. His last wishes were to let all of his friends and associates know how much he treasured them, their friendship and&nbsp;all the wonderful times they spent together sharing opinions, ideas and thoughts for a better future for our kids.</p> <p>Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Pat Munson, Pawleys Island; sons, Cris (Mary Ellen) Munson, Hobe Sound, FL; Alex Munson, Daytona Beach, FL; step son, Adam (Natalie) Booth, Sykesville, MD; son Neil (Mary) Munson; brother, Donald (Sue) Munson, Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, Brett Munson, Kara Munson, Carter Munson, Jake Munson and Olivia Booth.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life service will be held at a day and time to be announced.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the South Carolina Environmental Law Project (SCELP) at&nbsp;www.scelp.org</p> <p>Online condolences may be expressed at&nbsp;www.burroughsfh.com</p> <p>Burroughs Funeral Home &amp; Cremation Services of Murrells Inlet (843.651.1440) is assisting the family.</p>

Charles Terry Munson, age 82, passed away peacefully Friday December 17, 2021 at his Pawleys Island residence.
