Reverend Lowell Erdahl 

Age 90 of Arden Hills, MN

Died Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at his home surrounded by his immediate family.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Inga Erdahl, and infant daughter.  He is survived by his wife Carol of 66 years, children Becky, Paul (Elizabeth), and Beth; grandchildren Peter, Annie, Carlie, and Kat; twin brother Arlen (Ellen) and in-laws (Judy and Bert LeMunyon and Betty Syvertsen), nieces and nephews. He attended Blue Earth High School, St. Olaf College, Luther Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary.  Lowell served as pastor (Farmington Lutheran Church; University Lutheran Church of Hope), professor (Luther Seminary), Bishop of the Southeastern Minnesota District (ALC), and Bishop of the Saint Paul Area Synod (ELCA). He was a gifted preacher, a prolific writer, and a faithful leader in the church and community.   Throughout his life he was an advocate, champion, and leader for peace and justice. He was an active voice for non-violence, racial justice, and LGBT rights and equality.  Lowell served on the Board of World Citizen Peace, promoting peace sites worldwide, and contributing to peace education programs.  A noted author, he wrote articles and several books sharing his insights and wisdom.  These include: The Lonely House: Strength for Times of Loss, Be Good to Each Other, An Open Letter on Marriage (with wife Carol), and Winsome Wisdom a daily devotional with stories and examples he used during his life and ministry.  A world traveler, he enjoyed family camping trips and visits to countries on 6 continents.  Lowell is remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, and leader.  We give thanks for his life and witness of Christ’s love in the world.  A private service was held with immediate family at Roselawn Cemetery.  A celebration of his life is being planned in Spring 2022.  Please direct memorials to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Roseville, MN or WorldCitizenPeace.org.  Special thanks and appreciation to Optage Hospice.
