Monty Lee Marr

Monty Lee Marr – beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend – passed away December 14, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife and children. He will be desperately missed and remain in all our hearts. Graveside services will be held at Coyville Cemetery on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 1 pm. Born March 3, 1951, in Fredonia, Kansas, the first son of Bill and Dot Marr. Monty grew up in Coyville attending school there from kindergarten through graduation from Fredonia High School. He and Debbie celebrated 41 years of marriage. Monty worked for Santa Fe Railroad in the accounting department for over 39 years in Topeka, Kansas. Monty loved spending time with his family. He never missed his grandchildren’s events, he was at it all, musicals, soccer games, volleyball matches, basketball and baseball games, gymnastics and cheer competitions, and choir concerts. He loved golfing and hunting with his brothers and sharing stories of their crazy hunting experiences. A lifelong Jayhawk fan, Monty followed KU basketball and looked forward to March Madness every year. He spent many summer days at the Lake of the Ozarks. A man of great faith, growing up he attended Coyville Christian Church and was a longtime member of Church of Resurrection. As a young boy he would go fishing with his Great Grandpa Marr and they would sing hymnals. Monty was preceded in death by his mother and father. Monty is survived by his wife, Debbie, his three children, Darrin Marr (Kristen), Tiffany Way (Brady), and Lindsee Myers (Ryan); his 8 grandchildren Maloree, Clayton, Kylea, Hadley, Adilynn, Kaden, Brandon, and Lauren; one great grandson: Terrance. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jan Marr (Terry) and Kent Marr (Gyla), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Fredonia Arts Council or Coyville Cemetery Fund and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
