Jerry A. Brickley Obituary

Pastor Jerry A. Brickley went to be with The LORD on November 10, 2021 at age 77. Jerry was born to Paul & Effe Brickley on February 15, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised with his older brother, Perry Brickley, who was also his lifelong best friend. After graduating high school, Jerry served 2 years overseas as an Army Specialist during the Vietnam War. Jerry went on to hold many professions, including owning his own taxi company, advertising for Montgomery Ward, serving as a police officer, and traveling as the road manager for the Festival of Praise choir for many years. Jerry soon felt the call to full-time ministry, and in 1990 he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He then moved to Brookings, OR where he served as the pastor of Anchor Chapels for over a decade, while also producing a ministry program on local public broadcasting. After retiring from ministry, he became a bus driver for Brookings-Harbor School District, where he was beloved by many over his 15+ years there. “Pastor Jerry” also continued to officiate weddings along the Oregon coast throughout the end of his life. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Julie Mohline of Surprise, AZ, Rebecca Gurney of Kingwood, TX, and Ryan Brickley of West Linn, OR; his grandchildren, Lukas Mohline (17) and Robin Gurney (2); his sister-in-law, Patty Brickley; his nieces, Sheryl Hatfield Brickley and Erin Smith; and many great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his brother. A Celebration of Life service is planned for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at the Brookings Church of the Nazarene, where Jerry attended for many years. Jerry will be buried with veteran’s honors at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. His deepest wish was for all to know and trust in Jesus, and to be reunited with his loved ones in heaven forever.
