<p>Andrew “Popeye” Estes, 61, of Independence, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Grant County.</p><p><br></p><p> Andrew was born on June 24, 1960, in Covington, KY to Mary {Book} and David Estes.</p><p><br></p><p> He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. A member of the Elsmere Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed participating in their fish-fry every Friday. He was passionate about helping the Lloyd Football Team, hunting, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p> Andrew will be deeply missed by his beloved son Cody Estes (Caity Fugazzi); siblings Jeff Estes, Bob Estes, Cindy (Jim) Gosney, Dan Estes, and Mary (Roger) Winans; grandchildren Caisley and Peyton Estes; nieces and nephews Whitney, Ashley, Lindsey, Tanner, Grayson, and Jonah; many great-nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.</p><p><br></p><p> Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and David Estes.</p><p><br></p><p> Visitation will be held between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY 41042. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at St. Henry Roman Catholic Church, 3813 Dixie Highway, Elsmere, KY 41018. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. after services. Memorial donations may be made in Andrew’s name to the Lloyd Football Team in care of Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home.
