David Gilmour Draper

David Gilmour Draper Jr. of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away at the age of 53 on December 5, 2021, after losing a noble fight with cancer. He was born in Gainesville, Florida on September 1, 1968 to David Draper Sr. and Sherry Draper. Dave grew up in Medford Lakes, New Jersey and spent every summer on Long Beach Island New Jersey, until he moved to Colorado in 1997 with his wife Joanne Draper. Dave graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had a wonderful career in the Denver metro area working on many high-profile construction projects. He held various roles throughout his career, but his most cherished was that of CEO of DG Draper Consulting where he was able to follow his entrepreneurial spirit while spending quality time with his family. Dave’s love of the outdoors was infectious, and one of his favorite things to do was spend time in the Colorado high country with family and friends. He loved to snowboard, participate in adventure runs, hike 14-ers with his daughter, and more recently had taken up fly-fishing with his son. Additionally, Dave loved the ocean. He spent many summers on Long Beach Island as a child, and subsequently with his wife and children teaching them how to bodysurf. Dave loved spending time in the kitchen cooking fun, new healthy recipes. In his quiet time Dave loved to read and study his Christian Science faith. As a life-long learner, he was constantly exploring new topics. Dave was into everything from rebuilding a jeep with his son to learning how to make his own Kombucha with his daughter. Despite the sadness of Dave’s passing, he led a full life in his 53 short years. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Ridge) Draper, daughter Sophie and son Conrad. Beloved parents Sherry and David Draper Sr., Sarasota, FL, best friend and brother, Jeffrey Draper of Holly Springs, NC. Dave also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, sister in-laws, brother in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and so many great friends. He will be missed deeply by all that knew him. Rest in Peace. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Adventure Unlimited at www.adventureunlimited.org or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute www.danafarber.org The family will be hosting a private remembrance in the new year.
