Louis Frederick Schaber

JANESVILLE--- Louis Frederick Schaber, Sr., age 86, of Janesville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, Jan. 22, 2017, at Cedar Crest Health Center, Janesville from a long-term illness. He was born in Janesville, on Oct. 10, 1930, the son of Louis Frederick and Laura May (Hendren) Schaber. On Dec. 16, 1950, he married Beverly June Curtis of Janesville. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Louis was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday school, confirmation, and Bethel series for many years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #90, and was a past Noble Grand. He was active in the Boy Scout program, serving as a scout leader and on the regional council for several years. In 1964, he chaperoned Troop 540 on their National Jamboree to Valley Forge, PA. Louis spent a lot of time camping with his troop. He was also employed as a feed mill manager at Smith's Feed Service in Janesville. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Schaber; 3 children: Louis Jr., Kathy (Dale) Bartz and Rebecca (James) Roehl; 8 grandchildren: Dana (Robert) Kolb, Louis (Tricia) Schaber, Nathaniel Bartz, Tiffany Schaber, Hayley (Logan) Hall, Katherine Roehl, twins Elizabeth and Alexandria Roehl; and 5 great grandchildren: Nevaeh Schaber, Avonley Hall, twins Asher and Emerson Kolb and Baron Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Private Memorial Service for the family was held at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY per Louis' wishes.
