Roger A. Scheidegger, 85, of Rockford, IL died from complications related to Covid-19 on Monday November 29, 2021 at OSF/St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, IL. He was born August 19, 1936 in Brodhead, WI, the son of Owen and Grace (Winn) Scheidegger. Roger graduated from Rockford West High School in 1955. He was employed by Amerock for 20 years before going into business for himself. Roger owned and operated LBS Marketing, a metal cryogenicing company, until his retirement in 2017. He was a devoted son-in-law who enjoyed working on his in-law’s family dairy farm. Holiday candy making was Roger’s labor of love. It brought him great joy to share his handmade treats with friends and family near and far. He liked picture puzzles, playing solitaire, cooking, gardening, and dancing a polka or waltz. Always competitive, he also enjoyed a good game of Dominos, Rook, or Toss Up with his grandchildren, or anyone brave enough to play against him. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Klopfenstein) Scheidegger; children Heidi (Phil) and family Megan and Colin Elsbree; Mark (Lisa Smith) and family Heather Alderman, Andrew (Erica) and Tara Scheidegger, Kaitlan (Jim) Kenney, and Leah, Landon, Emily and Doug Scheidegger; Brian (Laura Crossley) and family Jonathan and Emma Scheidegger; Dr. Amie Scheidegger, Nancy Scheidegger and AFS daughter Inese (Jon) and Zandis Hoover; Great-grandchildren Hunter, Madison, and Noah Scheidegger, brother Donald Scheidegger, brothers-in-law Danny (Beverly), Jack (Charlene), and Terry Klopfenstein, sister-in-law Bonny (James) Raymond, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, six sisters, father and mother- in-law Merlin and Margaret (Goecks) Klopfenstein, and daughter Penny (Scheidegger) Hurlbut. The family would like to thank the many Veterans Affairs (VA) doctors, nurses, and staff who provided compassionate health care over the years. Private funeral services are scheduled for December 21, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Please join via Zoom Meeting ID 677 542 0139 Passcode 123. Burial at Willwood Burial Park. A public celebration of life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
