Portland- Ian James Tully Morris, 18, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Hiram, Maine. Ian was born on August 19, 2003 in New Hyde Park, NY at Long Island Jewish Hospital, the son of Ian Carver Tully and Diana Morris. He graduated from Portland High School in the Class of 2021, but grew up in NY where he attended grades 1 through 10 in the towns of Queens Village, East Northport, and Commack. Ian worked as a morning manager for Dunkin Donuts in Tewksbury, MA for a period of time before returning to Portland where he recently started working as an evening manager for McDonalds. Ian’s aspirations were to start his own business so as to apply his entrepreneurial spirit. In his early years Ian was active in Boy Scouts, he loved BMX biking, back packing and winter camping, spending time at the ocean body surfing and swimming, learning to board surf. He played violin, chess, soccer, and online video games “Roblox” with his friends. He was the undefeated family champion of Monopoly and 2nd only to his Poppy in Mexican Train Dominos. As a younger child, Ian loved Karate, building and designing with his Legos, and toy soldiers, pirates, knights in armor, and his wooden castle. He had a great affection for cats especially his Ollie Boy and Brewster. He loved a good joke and always filled a room with his laughter and his bright smile. Ian possessed a strong sense of all inclusive “brotherly love” to all, he was a great problem solver with big ideas. He was a good friend, son and brother who was filled with love and kindness. Everyone who met Ian, loved him. Ian was predeceased by his grandfathers, Donald Oest, Sean Tully, and Michael G. Morris. He is survived by his mother, Diana Morris of Portland; his father, Ian C. Tully and stepmother Sussanah Tully, brothers, Zane and Zellan Tully; step sister, Zinnia Hansler; grandparents, Marion “Mimi” Oest of NY, Elizabeth “Nana” and Andrew “Poppy” Ward of GA; numerous and beloved aunts, uncles and a huge tribe of cousins. Memorial and Celebration of Life Services will be held December 11, 2021 at Donahue Cecere Funeral Directors in Westbury, NY.
