Joyce Keen

Joyce Keen Lake Wylie, South Carolina. Joyce Keen, 74, married to Charles Denhart, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at home in the loving company of her family. Joyce was born in Council, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Perry Keen and Helen Wampler Keen. She spent the first thirteen years of her life in Council before moving to Bristol, Virginia. She had an illustrious career first as a nurse and then, after receiving her PhD in psychology from Nova University, as a psychologist in private practice and the head of the psychology department at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Other endeavors included a counseling radio show and a professional match consulting firm. She was also active in her community being on the board or in a leadership position in numerous organizations including Hospice of Central Iowa, Wesley Acres and the Iowa Psychological Association. She is survived by her husband, her three children, Lance Honeycutt (Michelle), Nichole Hinton (Timothy) and Trevor Honeycutt (Kristina). Also she has sixteen grandchildren. Andrea McCabe, Hannah Honeycutt, Holly Honeycutt, Jacob Borland, Tyler Borland, Steven Schott, Timothy Hinton, Noah Honeycutt, Luke Honeycutt, Nathan Honeycutt, Joshua Honeycutt, Anna Grace Honeycutt, Judah Ruth Honeycutt, Elisha Honeycutt, Joseph Honeycutt, and Benjamin Honeycutt. She has four brothers, David Keene (Donna), Kenneth Keen (Becky), Philip Keen and Chad Keen (Kathy). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Ronald Keen. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Ramsey Creek Preserve in Westminster, SC. The family is at her home, 4811 Littlejohn Point, York, SC 29745.
