<p>Boyd Roger Chandler, 81, of New London, passed away peacefully and joined the love of his life, Janice, on Monday, December 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.</p> <p>Roger was born April 16, 1940 in Albemarle to the late Coy Vester Chandler and the late Blanche Eva Springer Chandler Vanhoy. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Janice Carroll Whitley Chandler, who passed away in 2002; and sister, Millie C. Kepley.</p> <p>The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home&#39;s Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jeremy Blake. The burial will follow at Centerview Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.</p> <p>He is survived by his son, Kevin (Irene) Chandler, daughters, Tracie (Wes) Sells, Danielle (Jerry, II) Smith; nine grandchildren, Matt Chandler, Taylor (Mandy) Hurley, Colby (Chelsea) Chandler, Bradley (Lauren) Chandler, Katelyn (Justin) Smith, Maggie (Evan) Smith, Tommy (Brooklyn) Smith, Jordan (Katherine) Sells, and Carson Sells; eight great-grandchildren, Kendall Chandler, Elzy Chandler, Tucker Chandler, Blakely Chandler, Bud Maverick Chandler, Huxley Hurley, Sawyer Hurley, and Wesley Sells; sisters, Kay Harrington, and Peggy Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Jake; and special friend, Angie Cooke.</p> <p>Roger was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunt camp in Anson County with all of his buddies. He was a quick-witted, hard-headed, smack talker that loved cheating at cards. Roger never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back.
