Gregory Dean McNamee, 67, of Burlington, died Monday, December 6, 2021 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. Born December 16, 1953 in Oquawka, IL, Gregory was the son of William V. “Nub” and Barbara Beatrice (Heath) McNamee. Gregory attended Oquawka, IL schools and was a graduate of Union High School. On February 14, 2001 he married Brenda Ann Scott. Gregory worked for Iowa State Penitentiary in the 1970s and for the rail crew express for four years, retiring in 2017. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and watching WWE on tv. Gregory’s favorite sports teams were the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Survivors include sons Justin McNamee and William McNamee of Burlington and daughter Mandy Trafton of Oquawka, IL; 5 grandchildren; sisters Kathy (Randy) Tracy of Oquawka, IL and Jana (Steve) Chwalisz of Buffalo Grove, IL. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara, his sister Georgia Wilcox, and two nephews Chad McNamee and Aaron Wilcox. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Funeral Chapel. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be at a later date in Oquawka, IL.
