<p>This obituary was lovingly written and submitted by the family.</p> <p>Maria Alvina Fernandes, age 80 of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away on December 4, 2021. She was born on February 14, 1941 to Marcus Barbosa and Joaquinha&nbsp;D&#39;Cunha in Goa, India.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>She&nbsp;was a member of the Church of Resurrection, Burtonsville, MD. She&nbsp;enjoyed reading, traveling and sewing.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Maria is survived by her daughters: Janeth Virgin Fernandes,&nbsp;Benetie Fernandes (Felix) and Bessie Rocha; daughter in law, Veronica; 7 grandchildren: Violet (Charles), Mabel (Terrence), Edwin (Maria), Patrick, Matthew, Nelroy and Ashely&nbsp;and 5&nbsp;great-grandchildren.&nbsp;</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Xavier; son, Nicholas and son-in-law, Martin.</p> <p>Visitation will be on held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2PM to 6PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707. Funeral Mass will be Monday, December 13 at 11AM at&nbsp;3315 Greencastle Rd, Burtonsville, MD 20866. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,&nbsp;13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20906.&nbsp;</p> <p>Memorial donations may be made to Church of Resurrection, Burtonsville, MD</p>
