Frederick Martin Obituary

Frederick Martin, 83, of Corvallis passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at The Hamilton Assisted Living center.  He was born September 22, 1938, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Chester and Jesse Martin.

Fred was raised in home with 4 brothers and spent his formative years living in the Uniontown area.  During high school he met the love of his life, Barbara (Thomas).  They were married on November 30, 1957.  Fred joined the military and spent 4 years honorably serving our country stationed in the United States and Germany.

Fred and Barbara began their family with birth of Donna (Robbins).  The adventure continued with a move west for the opportunities in California.  Fred began work in Southern California at the General Pipe and Supply steel company.  The family continued to grow with the birth of Debbie (Paulson), Dan, and Doug.

Fred moved to Modesto, California, in 1978, to begin working in hospital maintenance.  Over the years, Fred advanced in his occupation to become Director of Plant Operations and entered hospital administration.  Fred retired, in 2003, and won a battle with life threatening cancer.

The greatest gift in Fred’s world was the birth of his eight grandchildren: Evan Paulson, Andrea (Ellington), Emily Martin, David Robbins, Grant Martin, Lindsay Martin, Amanda Robbins, and Hannah Martin.  Being “Papa” to his grandchildren was his greatest joy.

In 2005, Fred and Barbara moved to Corvallis, Montana.  They quickly fell in love with the Montana beauty and made many friends.  Fred was a kind, sweet, gentle man with a terrific sense of humor.  His family was always the highest priority in his life.  His pride in his family was evident.

Fred will be remembered as a loving family man.  Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his brothers, Ed and Tom; and son in law, Roy Robbins.  He is survived by his brothers, Bob and Daniel; his children, Donna Robbins, Debbie (Joseph) Paulson, Dan (Kim) Martin; Doug (Heidi) Martin and his eight grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Corvallis United Methodist Church, located at 352 Corvallis Cemetery Rd., Corvallis, MT. For those unable to attend livestream is available at dalyleachchapel.com. A private family interment will take place prior to the celebration of Fred’s life.
