Allan I. Storma Obituary

Appleton - Allan Storma, 92 of Neenah, passed away Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at Frontida Assisted Living of Kimberly. He was born October 31th, 1929, son of the late Albert and Emma Storma. Allan attended Seymour schools until enlisting in the Army. After returning from Korea in service to his country, he worked on his family's farm before taking a position as millworker at Gilbert Paper, Menasha, Wisconsin. During his career at Gilbert Paper, he met his wife Carmelita (Thiede). Being very dedicated to his job and family, he often took overtime in order to enjoy many vacations in Florida or Texas with his family. He retired from Gilbert Paper as a Roving Foreman in 1990. Allan married Carmelita Thiede on June 29th, 1964 in Seymour. He enjoyed a hobby farm full of animals, traveling, walking on the beach, and gardening/landscaping with his wife. After he retired in 1990, Allan and his wife moved to Florida where they lived for over 15 years continuing their love of the outdoors. He passed on his love of nature and travel to his daughters, Amme and April. He also enjoyed laughing with friends either at a favorite local tavern or at the American Legion Post #273 in Florida. He always looked forward to family get togethers during the holidays. Being known for his quick wit, Allan had a song to sing or a joke to tell, and was always ready to dance to any Polka. Allan is survived by his two daughters, Amme Storma (Rob Mertins) and April (Dave) Schoepel. His brother-in-law, Earl Cary Thiede (Seminole, FL). Also, nieces, nephews, plus great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Carmelita and his parents, Albert and Emma Storma, Allan was preceded in death by his brothers Albridge (Caroline) Storma, Ivan (Arlene) Storma, Harlan (Lucille) Storma, and sister Ila Mae Weyenberg. Amme and April would like to thank Dr. Stephen Dernlan and staff, the caring staff at Frontida Assisted Living Kimberly and Compassus Hospice, plus all of the other caregivers for keeping Dad laughing and for providing such great care for him. A special Thank You to CarePatrol for helping us find a place for Dad to be able to get the great care. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association. In addition, a memorial fund has been established for the Fox Valley Humane Society because of Allan's love for animals. While living in Wisconsin, Allan was a member of Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Clayton. Burial will be in Bay Pines Veterans' National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida. “Take ‘er cool”, Al. We miss you, Dad. Rest in Peace. Love, Amme and April
