<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;Edward Maxwell &ldquo;Eddie&rdquo; Hiser, age 79, of Petersburg, WV passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.</p> <p>Eddie was born on June 15, 1942 in Moorefield, WV and was a son of the late Jonathan Albert Hiser and Ada Mae (Halterman) Hiser. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William &ldquo;Gabe&rdquo; Reel and brother-in-law, Dolman Reel.&nbsp;</p> <p>Eddie is survived by his wife, Christene (Reel) Hiser; two sons, Ashby Hiser of Rock Hill, SC., and Edward &ldquo;JR&rdquo; (Laura) Hiser of Woodsboro, MD., two daughters, Angela (Dwayne &ldquo;Bubba&rdquo;) Hedrick of Petersburg, WV and Amanda (Brian) Cunningham of Charleston, WV; five grandchildren, Cassidy Hedrick, Cameron Hedrick, Porter Hiser, Ethan Cunningham and Coleman Hiser; one sister, Karen Hiser of Charleston, WV; Mother-in-law, Norma Reel and sister-in-law, Elva (Gerald) Ratcliff all of Petersburg, WV.</p> <p>Eddie was a graduate of Moorefield High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army for four years and several years in active Army Reserve. &nbsp;He was a life member of Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg, WV.&nbsp; Eddie was a member of Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company and was manager of Allied Egry for several years.</p> <p>Eddie served as deputy in the Grant County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department for several years and was sheriff for one term. &nbsp;He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.</p> <p>Eddie retired from U.S. Customs and Border Protection after 25 years of service.</p> <p>&nbsp;Eddie was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, SC. &nbsp;He also was a member of the Steele Creek Lodge No.737 A.F. &amp; A.M. Charlotte, NC.&nbsp;</p> <p>Family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 11 AM &ndash; 1 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.&nbsp; Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with the Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV with military honors by Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.</p> <p>Those who wish to remember Eddie in a special way may make memorials to Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company,&nbsp;49 South Main Street, Petersburg, WV 26847 or St. Jude&rsquo;s Children&rsquo;s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Charity of Choice.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

 Edward Maxwell “Eddie” Hiser, age 79, of Petersburg, WV passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.

Eddie was born on June 15, 1942 in Moorefield, WV and was a son of the late Jonathan Albert Hiser and Ada Mae (Halterman) Hiser. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William “Gabe” Reel and brother-in-law, Dolman Reel.
