Betty Jane Houghton Hauser was born on October 8, 1929, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Clem & Sara (Petticord) Houghton.  She graduated from MHS in 1947.  She spent her first year at Colorado University and transferred to the University of Iowa where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree.  She taught at Garwin High School Garwin, Iowa.    She then married Robert R. Hauser in June of 1952, moving to Cedar Rapids and taught high school, then moving to Lakewood, California, where she taught many years K-12.   Left to cherish her memory are:  Debbie (Carl) Danner of Bakersfield, California;  David Hauser, California; and  Diana (Mike) Wise of Cerritos, California: Grandchildren: Aaron Hauser, Chad Danner, Sarah Wise, Jason Wise,  her sister, Delores (Donald) Hauser of Union, Iowa and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.   She is preceded in death by her parents: Clem & Sara Houghton, and husband, Robert R. Hauser.   She will truly be missed by her family. The family will gather at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown at noon on Friday, December 10th, for a brief time of visitation and then proceed to the Hauser Cemetery near Whitten.
