<p>Frederick Paul Speckels of Huntington died on December 3, 2021 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital at the age of 77. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of William and Helen Speckels (Sudnik) of Northampton.</p> <p>Frederick grew up on Long Island and moved to Huntington, Massachusetts after serving his country in Vietnam. After graduating from Chaminade High School on Long Island, he graduated from St. Michael&rsquo;s College in Winooski, Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1967 as a Combat Photographer in the U. S. Marine Corps. He worked at WWLP-TV as Chief News Photographer for 13 years, and owned Tele-Commercial Productions, a TV commercial and video production company, for over 20 years.</p> <p>Frederick was devoted to his family and enjoyed salt and fresh water fishing, hunting, and sports. He was also an avid reader and liked to write poetry. Fred was a parishioner of the former St. Thomas Church in Huntington, for many years, where he and Helen were married, all three children were baptized, and oldest son, Paul, was married.</p> <p>Frederick is predeceased by his parents: William and Helen Speckels of Northampton; and his two sisters: Christine Fontaine of Florida, and Katherine Proctor of Vermont.</p> <p>He will be dearly missed by his wife Helen of 45 years, and their three sons: Paul Speckels and his wife, Lucille, and grandchildren Tommy, Max, Theo and Annabelle of Westfield; Stephen Speckels and his wife, Jennifer, and grandson Frederick of Huntington; Christopher Speckels of Chester; and his sister, Judith Speckels of Easthampton; and his aunt, Aurelia Sudnik of Northampton. He also leaves several nieces and nephews of Vermont, Florida and Switzerland.</p> <p>The family appreciates the care given to Frederick by the staff of Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Linda Manor. At the family&#39;s&nbsp;request, in lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made in Frederick&#39;s memory to Our Lady of the Valley Parish, C/O&nbsp; Beautification Fund, 33 Adams Street, Easthampton, MA. 01027</p> <p>Calling hours will be held at Graham Funeral Home, 18 Adams Street, Easthampton on Thursday, December 9th from 2 &ndash; 5 pm. Frederick Paul Speckels of Huntington died on December 3, 2021 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital at the age of 77. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of William and Helen Speckels (Sudnik) of Northampton.

Frederick grew up on Long Island and moved to Huntington, Massachusetts after serving his country in Vietnam. After graduating from Chaminade High School on Long Island, he graduated from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1967 as a Combat Photographer in the U. S. Marine Corps. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 33 Adams Street, Easthampton, on Friday, December 10th at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial ceremony with Military Honors at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
