Terry Anne Wicks Obituary

Terry Anne Wicks (October 14, 1949 – December 3, 2021) Terry Anne Wicks, 72, passed away, Friday, December 3, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born October 14, 1949, in Tahlequah, OK to Emmitt Bradford and Laverne (Humphery) Bradford. Terry grew up living in several towns across Oklahoma as her father’s career in education evolved before finally settling in Vinita, OK in 1958. In high school she was active in the pom squad and FHA. She worked in the summers at the Vinita Public Pool as a lifeguard and waited tables at The Glass House. She graduated from Vinita High School in 1967. After high school Terry attended NEO A&M College in Miami, OK graduating with an associate degree where she met her husband, Jim. After college, she worked for a brief time at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before starting at the Craig County Clerk’s Office where she rose to 1st Deputy under then County Clerk, John Collins. Terry took a few brief years off from her working career to be a stay-at-home mom. During this time, she was an active homeroom mom to her son Dale’s elementary classes and active serving as a Den Mom for Cub Scout Pack #66. She resumed her working career with the United States Postal Service out of Afton, OK as a rural mail carrier where she was loved by all her patrons. She retired from here in 1994. On April 18th, 1971, Terry married Jim Wicks and they had one son, Dale. She enjoyed many interests and passions in life. In 1974, she and Jim founded what has become today the premier, Ford and Shelby event in the country, known as the Mid-America Ford & Shelby Nationals in Tulsa. Throughout these last 48 years as an event host, the cars were the reason, but the people of the event where always the purpose and the passion for Terry. She was also known for her great cooking, baking, hospitality, and an amazing conversationalist. She also found great joy in working in the yard on her flowers, was an avid reader, sports fan, and a lover of all kinds of music. But her greatest joy in life was spending time with her two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laverne (Humphery) Bradford, father, Emmitt Bradford and stepmother, Joyce Bradford and a brother, Larry Joe Bradford. The family includes her husband, Jim Wicks of the home in Vinita, OK; one son Dale Wicks and wife Dee Ann and two granddaughters, Harper, and Avery, of Owasso, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one brother, Jeff Bradford of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a sister in-law Sandy Bradford of Owasso, two stepsisters; Marcheta Magnon and husband Pat of Vinta, OK, Carmie Leake and husband David of Lubbock, TX and stepbrother, John Parker of Vinita, OK; a special cousin, Connie Streck and many nieces and nephews; Gina Brasongre, Amanda Sherman, Jamie McDoulett, Patty Finch, Tracy Magnon, Patrick Magnon, Heath Magnon, Lacy Elliott. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.
