Patsy E. Bass, 87, of Kimball, SD passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Kimball Protestant Parish. A Committal Service will follow at Kimball Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 9, 2021 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service. Mount Funeral Home of Kimball is assisting with arrangements. Patsy E. (McEwen) Bass was born on December 2, 1934 to Noel and Mary (Anderson) McEwen in Aspermont, Texas. She attended school and was united in marriage to Jim Bass on August 4, 1950 in Dolores, Colorado. In 1973 they relocated from Cortez, Colorado to Kimball, South Dakota where they farmed and began Bass Pheasant Hunting. She enjoyed working on the farm with Jim and running Jim and Patsy’s Bed & Breakfast. She and Jim were also parents to over 30 foster kids. Patsy was a member of Kimball Protestant Parish and could be found working on upholstery, painting, tending to her flower gardens or baking. She was especially known for her delicious cowboy cookies, cinnamon rolls and homemade dinner rolls and jelly. Patsy loved visiting and spending time with her grandkids. Grateful for having shared in Patsy’s life: a son, Gary Bass of Anchor Point, AK; a son-in-law, Don Randolph of Cortez, CO; a daughter-in-law, Diane Bass of Brookings, SD; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Sheila Randolph (Kendi, Braydon, Alyssa - Jayme) of Cortez, CO, Zac and Theresa Bass (Tanner, Lantz, Charlee) of Kimball, SD, Sharee Randolph (Madelyn - Asher), Melissa and Sean Briscoe (Derek (Kayla), Abby, Ashley – Camden, Charlie) of Sturgis, SD, Isaac and Stephanie Bass (James, Sabrina) of Milliken, CO, Jessica and DJ Scott (Jazmine, Daniel) of San Antonio, TX, Ronald and Robin Bass (Jordyn, Spencer, Pria) of Belle Fourche, SD, Justus and Erin Bass (Ryker, McKenna) of Brookings, SD, Trinity and Danielle Bass (Ebenezer, Penelope) of Saint Paul, MN, Fallon Hain of Billings, MT, and Camai Bass of Wasilla, AK; and a brother, Wayne McEwen of Italy, TX. Patsy was preceded in death by: her husband, Jim Bass (Oct. 9, 2013); her daughter, Patty Jean Bass-Randolph; her son, Ronald Dean Bass; a grandson, Spencer Briscoe; her parents, Noel and Mary McEwen; a brother, Monte Christensen; her parents-in-law, V.C. and Bertha Bass; and foster daughters: Elaine Ortize and Lee Mott.
