Kenneth R. Bigelow Obituary

Kenneth R. Bigelow, 92, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1929 in Washington, NJ to parents Mabel (Smith) and Walter Bigelow. After graduation from Rutgers University he established and operated Mountain View Poultry Farm in Oxford, NJ. He then pursued a second career in teaching and administration for 25 years at the Warren Glen Elementary School in Pohatcong Township, NJ. He was a member of the United Methodist Church serving as lay leader and Sunday school teacher through the years in the Hampton, Port Murray and Broadway churches. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking and established his own small business from his home workshop. He loved yardwork and meticulously maintained his property. Sports captured his attention and he loved the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He will be remembered by his family for his wit, his stories, his love of music and dancing, his creativity and his ability to quickly complete any type of jigsaw puzzle. Kenneth married Barbara (Bungert Schanzlin) Bigelow and is survived by a blended family. Survivors include daughter Barbara Tarlowski, son Thomas Bigelow (Susan), stepdaughters Paula Thatcher (Dennis), Tammy Wollman (Richard), Deborah Welch, Carole Ann Sarson (James), stepsons Gregg Perry, and Robert Schanzlin (Sandra), 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Ralph Bigelow and is survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral arrangements have been made private and are under the direction of Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. Interment at Montana Cemetery, Harmony, NJ will also be held privately. Online condolences may be submitted to www.warrenhillsmemorialhome.com.
